TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's bowling team placed second over the weekend at the Medaille Invitational going 6-2 over two days of competition. The Redhawks' only losses came to the tournament champions, Medaille.
Roberts kicked off play with back-to-back wins, defeating Pitt-Bradford (891-782) and Daemen (994-968) before Medaille came away with a close 938-904 win in the third match of the day. The Redhawks closed out the first day with a 774-707 win over Penn State Behrend.
Sophomore
Sarah Gerken bowled her highest game of the season with a 296 against Daemen. Gerken would go on to be named the tournament MVP with a scoring average of 229.80. The Hilton, N.Y. native had three games above 200.
Emily Notebaert placed sixth in individual scoring average at 186.40.
On day two of competition Roberts picked up three straight wins to start the day before falling to Medaille in the final game 907-836.
The Redhawks led the entire tournament in total pinfall, but was beat out by Medaille in the end by seven pins.
Roberts is now 14-13 overall and will head to the Wildcat DII-DIII Invitational at the end of November.
