UTICA, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's and women's swim programs competed in a quad meet Friday evening at Utica College. The quad meet included three other teams; Cazenovia College, host school Utica College, and Herkimer County Community College.
Through 26 events, both the programs improve their record to 3-1 after the men's team posted a 78-40 win against Cazenovia, an 83-12 win against Herkimer. The Redhawks men's swim team weren't able to come up with the win against Utica College with the final score being 33-131.
The women's team came away with two wins out of three competitions posting a 131-56 win against Cazenovia, a 143-29 win versus Herkimer, and a close 94-101 loss to Utica College.
On the men's side of things, some notable performances from the quad meet include a school record-breaking performance from freshman
Mateus Moura in the 200-Yard Freestyle. Moura took first place in the event finishing in 2:05.67. In the 200-Yard Individual Medley, senior
Joshua Moore earned himself a Redhawks school record after a 2:45.15 finish. With the third school record broken on the men's side, Amelio Ripa ended his 200-Yard Butterfly performance in a time of 2:32.54.
The women's team broke four more records in this competition as sophomore
Sara Gendrue finished the 200-Yard Individual Medley in 2:31.51 and the 200-Yard Breaststroke in 2:42.88. Freshman
Paige Siebold also earned herself and the Redhawks two new school records as she ended the meet with a 200-Yard Butterfly performance in a time of 2:49.87 and placed first in the 200-Yard Backstroke in 2:31.42.
Next up for the Redhawks swim programs is a trip to Aurora, New York as they compete in a Tri-meet against Wells College and SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, December 1. Events are scheduled to begin at 1 PM.
