ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's tennis team came from behind to defeat RIT on Sunday, 5-4.
The Redhawks found themselves down 2-1 following doubles play. The duo of
Marine Kennel and
Laura Freeman were able to pick up an 8-2 victory at the No. 3 doubles slot. Freeman then had a crucial win over Annie Steinbrink at No. 5 singles to tie the match up 2-2. Freeman won the match 6-1, 6-2 and was the lone double winner for the Redhawks.
Andrea Gallardo and
Marousia Bosch picked up wins in No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively to keep the Tigers within striking distance.
Bijisha Shrestha provided the deciding point for Roberts as the freshman defeated Julia Smolowitz, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
Roberts Wesleyan (7-9) continue their spring season schedule on Friday, March 30
th when they will travel to Manchester, N.H. to take on Southern New Hampshire University.
