PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team fell to out-of-conference opponent Lake Erie College on Wednesday, 13-9.
The Redhawks came into the game off their recent victory against St. Thomas Aquinas ready to play. Even though Lake Erie was the first team on the board, the Redhawks responded quickly with a goal of their own by freshman
Taylor Nathan at 27:58. The teams played even the rest of the half until the 3:11 mark when Lake Erie went ahead by one goal. The second half was dominated by Lake Erie, where they outscored the Redhawks 6-3. The three Redhawks that tallied goals in the second half included Nathan,
Emily Tomei, and
Emily Knight. Turnovers proved to be a detriment to the Redhawks in the game, totaling up to 23 for the team and only 13 for Lake Erie.
Five Redhawks scored goals in the game, led by Knight with four. The junior also picked up three ground balls, adding to the 32 total for the Redhawks. Sophomore
Jessica Giancursio led the Redhawks in draw controls with five and fellow sophomore
Elizabeth Spada followed close behind with four.

Victoria Greco had 15 saves on the night compared to Lake Erie's ten.
After the loss, the team's record goes to 6-4. They return on Sunday to play another out-of-conference game against Caldwell University in New Jersey.
