Seven New Records Set in Dual Meet Against MCC

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Monroe Community College on Wednesday evening for a dual meet. The women's team came out on top, 163.5-68.5 while the men fell to MCC, 175-30. Along with the win the women's team set seven new records during the meet.
 
Sophomore Sarah Gendrue led the Redhawks winning four total races. The Barker, N.Y. native won the 400 yard medley alongside Paige Siebold, Julia Barnwell, and Abigail Bailey. The relay team finished in a time of 4:46.95. In all of her individual races Gendrue set new records. Gendrue's time of 2:10.49 in the 200 yard freestyle was a new school and pool record. In the 200 yard breaststroke the sophomore set a new pool record touching the wall in 2:45.12 and in the 400 yard Individual Medley Gendrue's time of 5:31.17 was a new school and pool record.
 
Three other members of the women's team set new records during the meet as well. Freshman Abbegael Greene won the 1000 yard freestyle with time of 12:07.16. That mark set a new school record. Greene also won the 200 yard butterfly setting a new school and pool record with a time of 2:49.27.
 
Barnwell had an impressive night with three first place finishes while also setting a new pool record. Along with her win in the 400 yard medley the sophomore won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:18.11 (new pool record) and the 100 yard butterfly (1:17.88).
 
Paige Siebold also won three races including the 400 yard medley, 200 yard backstroke (2:27.99) which was a new school and pool record and 500 yard freestyle (6:01.33).
 
The women's team has improved to 7-1 this season while the men sit at 6-2.
 
Next up for the teams is a dual meet at Oswego State on Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.
