ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team was not able to repeat their first quarter performance as they fell to top-ranked ECC opponent Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Sunday afternoon, 67-53.
The Redhawks went on to finish the day by going 19-for-48 (40%) from the field, 3-for-11 (26%) from three-point range, and 11-for-15 (73%) from the free throw line. The Spartans came out on top as they finished the day by shooting 22-for-68 (32%) from the field and 18-for-21 (86 %) from the charity stripe.

Taylor Bynoe ended her afternoon by scoring nine points and adding seven rebounds to round out the Alumni Weekend festivities.
Roberts' largest lead came in the first quarter with 1:39 left on the clock. The seven-point lead eventually would go to five at the end of the one. The second quarter would end up being a low-scoring battle. The eight points scored by the Redhawks in this period came from a jumper from
Tashayla Sutorius, a couple of layups from Bynoe and freshman
Dimitra Gkizani, and a few free throws.
The Spartans would come back and take the lead from the Redhawks in the third quarter with 5:18 left on the clock after a layup in the paint from STAC guard Julia Winnik. Roberts would try to fight back as they were down by eight with two minutes left to play, however the Spartans would capitalize on drawn fouls and end the game on free throws.
Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team (9-10, 5-4 ECC) is a trip to Amherst, N.Y. to face ECC and Interstate 90 rival Daemen College. The game will take place on Thursday, January 31 and tipoff is scheduled for 6 PM.
