ROCHESTER, N.Y. –
Alex Perez Vega had an assist and the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Molloy on Saturday afternoon. The win moved the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team into second place in the East Coast Conference standings with a 4-1 ECC record.

The game remained scoreless through the first half but
Dylan Ruiz got the Redhawks on the scoreboard first with a goal in the 48th minute off a pass from Perez Vega.

Just ten minutes later Molloy answered with a goal from Anthony Cestaro to tie the score up at 1-1.

In the 63rd minute Perez Vega rifled a shot from 18 yards out that found the upper right corner of the net to give Roberts a 2-1 advantage that the team was able to hold onto until the final whistle.

The Lions created plenty of opportunities to draw the score even again late in the contest but the Redhawks defense held strong. No chance was greater for the visitors than in the 88th minute when a point blank shot was saved by Redhawks' goalkeeper
Jared Gibbons.

Roberts is now 7-5-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference. The Redhawks sit ahead of New York Tech in the standings and behind Mercy. The remaining scheduled for Roberts includes a home game against winless Daemen and away trips to Mercy and Bridgeport to close out the season. A win next Saturday against Daemen could allow the Redhawks to clinch a spot in postseason play.
