SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team got off to a slow start in Sunday's game against St. Thomas Aquinas leading to a 79-58 loss.
The Spartans used a 14-3 run to close out the first quarter to take a 29-13 lead. The Redhawks were never able to overcome the early deficit and STAC was able to push the lead to 23 points before halftime.
Junior
Tashayla Sutorius was the leading scorer for Roberts with 15 points. The forward also had three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman
Taryn Wilson had a career high 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting including four made three pointers.
The Redhawks were 22-of-63 (34.9%) from the field and the Spartans finished 33-of-64 (51.6%).
Roberts will head into the final two regular season games at home with a 12-14, 8-8 ECC record. The Redhawks currently sit in sixth place in the conference standings. They will host Bridgeport on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Voller Athletic Center for a chance to climb to fifth in the standings.
