Women’s Basketball Falls to Queens, 78-84 2OT

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team came up short in extra time against ECC opponent Queens College on Friday evening.

The Redhawks would end Friday night's campaign against the Knights going 29-for-73 (40%) from the field, 6-for-24 (25%) from three-point range, and 14-for-21 (67%) from the free throw line.

Roberts was lead by double double performances by junior Emily Miller and senior Taylor Bynoe. Miller ended the night with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Bynoe added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Other notable performances from the night's action include Tashayla Sutorius' 23 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

An impressive first half from the Redhawks saw a three-point lead going into the third quarter. The second half proved to be a tight battle as almost every point scored from the Redhawks was immediately answered back by the Knights.

In the first overtime period, Queens would take a five-point lead but Roberts would fight their way back to a second overtime period after a solid defensive performance and a late layup in the paint from Tashayla Sutorius, which drew a foul and tied things up 69-69.

The Redhawks and Knights were neck and neck throughout most of the second overtime period but Queens would pull away after a late layup and drawn fouls would seal up the 84-78 win for the Knights.

The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team (9-12, 5-6 ECC) will move on to play Molloy College on Sunday, February 10 on the road. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 PM.
