EDINBORO, Pa. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its season with a 5-4 win over Atlantic Region rival Edinboro University in a match played in Erie Pa.

The Lady Scots opened the scoring by taking the doubles point with 6-2 and 6-3 wins at first and second doubles respectively. RWC bounced back with wins at 6
th, 5
th and 3
rd singles.Â

Laura Freeman defeated Paige Morris 6-0, 6-0 at 5
th singles and
Marousia Bosch defeated Jelena Vucenovic 6-2, 6-4 at 3
rd singles to give RWC a 3-1 lead.  Edinboro's Tatiana Batalla defeated
Andrea Gallardo in three sets at 2
nd singles to close the gap. RWC's
Bijisha Shrestha clinched the win for the Redhawks with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win over Hannah Brentar at 4
th singles.Â

Edinboro closed out the scoring when Laura Lopez defeated
Nthabi Mogopodi 6-4, 7-6, 10-7 at first singles.

The 9-7 Redhawks, currently ranked No. 10 in the East Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, are off until March 15
th when they travel to New Hampshire to take on NE 10 rivals Franklin Pierce, Southern New Hampshire and St Anselm.
