Atlantic Region powerhouse Mercyhurst University had little trouble defeating the Roberts Women's Tennis Team Tuesday in a match played in Erie PA at the Westwood Tennis Club. The Lakers swept the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
Laura Freeman and
Marousia Bosch came closest to picking up a doubles win, but fell 7-6(1) to Naomi Jahr and Hannah Wenzel.
Mercyhurst then won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Nthabi Mogopodi and
Salome Darsalia had the most competitive matches in singles. Mogopodi lost to Kayla Frost 7-6(2), 6-3 at first singles and Darsalia fell to Hannah Wenzel 6-2, 7-6(2) at the sixth singles spot. "This was a very talented team who never let us get into our game. We fought hard, but just could not break through."' Commented Coach Linhart
After playing 4 matches in 5 days the Redhawks have off until next Tuesday when they travel to RIT totaled on the Tigers coached by
Tom Linhart Jr. The match is on the RIT campus at 3pm.
