Webb Makes a Splash Against GCC

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -  It was a split on wins for the Roberts Wesleyan swim teams as the women's team took down Genesee Community College 90-24 and the men's team just missed top finish, falling to GCC 69-65. 

Sara Gendrue paced the Redhawks in the pool kicking off the meet with a new record in the 200 freestyle. Gendrue touched the wall 12 seconds before her competition landing her a first place and eclipsing her old record by .33 second with a time of 2:09.37. Gendrue also touched first in the 200 Individual medley and 100 backstroke accumulating 27 total points in their 90 points win. 

Paige Siebold also captured two first place wins in the 100 yard freestyle and breaststroke with times of 59.81 and 1:21.19. Siebold was also the lead off in the first place 200 yard freestyle relay starting the team off with a split of 28.64. 

On the men's side Colin Webb, the junior transfer out of Barker, New York made quite a splash in his first meet as a Redhawk taking three first place wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke as well as setting two new records. Webb overtook the 100 freestyle record, which was previously held by standout freshman Gabe Rivers, with a time of 51.99 then went on to break the 50 yard freestyle time by nearly a second. 

Gabe Rivers was also able to take three first place wins in the 1000 freestyle, 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. Rives went two for three in setting records in his events with a new record in the 1000 freestyle by over four minutes with a time of 11:03.72 and re-set his own 100 fly record by 59.23.

Up next, both teams are at Monroe Community College on January 26th. Racing starts at 6:00 p.m.
