Furnham, Rivers Shine at MCC Meet

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan swim team brought home a win on the women's side with their victory over Monroe Community College 83-70. The men's team fell to the Tribunes 130-45. 

The women were able to take six of the ten individual events with Jessica Furnham leading the charge by first finishing with a time of 2:16.58 in the 200 freestyle earning the women's team the first individual win of the session. She later went on to race neck and neck with MCC's Isabella Klewicki in the 500 freestyle with Furnham dropping back with only 200 yards remaining. The freshman was able to negative split her second 250 yards to eventually overtake Klewicki and pick up her second first place finish with a time of 6:03.54.

On the men's side Gabe Rivers was able to take first place and reclaim his 100 freestyle record which was previously broken last weekend against junior transfer Collin Wade. The two showed up in a dominating fashion with times of 51.62 and 51.94, respectively, touching nearly five second before their competition. 

Rivers took home an additional first place in his mile debut with a time of 19:04.11.

This weekend, the Redhawks are back at it at home as they take on Oswego State on Saturday, January 25th. Racing starts at 1:00 p.m.
