Women's Lacrosse Tops Lynn University, 16-11

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team is one for one on wins during their Florida tour as they took down Lynn University 16-11 on Thursday night.

Roberts and Lynn went goal for goal during the first seven minutes of play with the Fighting Knights as the first to get on the board. In the 23rd minute Roberts began to fire back with off a pass from Lindsey Brinkel to Jamie Walker for a goal. Less than two minutes later Jessica Giancursio scored a goal, then another by Emily Tomei bringing the game to 6-3 in favor of Roberts.

An attempt to reign in the game fell short for Lynn University as they were only able to add another two to the board before the Redhawks ran away with the game ending the first half 11-5.

In the start of the second half, Roberts put up a quick three before Lynn was able to answer. While the Fighting Knights were able to then score four in a row they still faced a five point deficit giving the Redhawks the ability to outpace them, adding another two goals by the end of regulation handing the Redhawks a 16-11 win.

The key for Roberts in taking an early and dominating lead was their 10 draw controls converting to eight goals compared to Lynn converting two of six in the first half.

Walker highlighted the team's performance picking up another six goals, three assists, and two caused turnovers. The freshman now has two games under her belt as a Redhawk and has taken the title of leading scorer for both.

Tomei was able to dominate the field with five goals, nine draw controls, two caused turnovers, an assist and a ground ball.

Up next, the team will face off against Saint Leo University on Saturday to conclude their road trip. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
