OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Coming off a big senior day win against the University of the District of Columbia this past weekend, the Redhawks women's basketball team traveled to Old Westbury on Friday to take on New York Tech in one of the Redhawks' final games of the 2019-20 regular season where they fell 57-52.
The first 10 minutes of play would end with a six point Roberts lead and the Redhawks remained six points in front as the first half expired. Roberts continued to look good ending the third quarter with a 45-36 lead, but would struggle to finish as New York Tech would outscore the Redhawks 21-7 in the fourth quarter and end up taking the win.Â
The game was highlighted for the Redhawks with Emily Miller, leading the team in scoring with 14 points, as well as adding 4 rebounds. Additionally, sophomore guard Taryn Wilson recorded yet another double-double, with 12 points and a career high 13 rebounds in her 38 minutes.Â
New York Tech struggled shooting the ball in the first three quarters, including a first quarter in which they shot 2-1for-3 (15.38%) from the field and 1-for-8 (12.50%) from three. They caught fire at the right time however, as they shot 7-for-13 (53.85%) from the field and 2-for-4 (50%) in the fourth quarter to close out the game. Additionally, the Bears were able to capitalize with 21 points off of 19 of the Redhawks turnovers. Roberts shot 16-for-38 (42.1%) from the field and 6-for-15 (40%) from three leading up to the fourth quarter, but went cold in the fourth shooting only 3-for-11 (27.27%) from the field and 0-for-3 from three.Â
Roberts will close off regular season play Sunday, March 1st at 12 p.m. in Rockville Centre, N.Y. as they take on Molloy College.
