No. 22 Women's Lacrosse Wins Big Against Slippery Rock

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Despite going down early to the visitors, the Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team pulled out a big win against Slippery Rock University, 15-5.

Slippery Rock would draw first blood against the Redhawks, as they scored on the first possession of the game.  Roberts would follow up with an equalizer, and the two teams would trade blows until a Taylor Nathan goal put Roberts ahead, a lead that the Redhawks would take all the way until the final whistle.  At the end of the first half, the score was 10-3.

The Redhawks would take their foot off the gas in the second half, spending more time winding down the clock and focusing on possession.  They put up five more led by Emily Tomei, who would score three goals in the second half alone.

Kelsey Simmons continued her impressive season for the Redhawks, picking up six points off of two goals and four assists.  Jamie Walker and Tomei would both have an impressive afternoon in front of goal, scoring four goals each. Tiffany Melendez dominated in the defensive statistics, knocking out four of the team's 12 caused turnovers and picking up six ground balls.

Roberts win takes them to 4-1 on the season as Coach Paolini's girls remain unbeaten at home.  They'll look to extend that run next Friday, March 13th against Lake Erie College. The game is slated to start at 3 p.m.
