Men's Soccer Week in Review: March 15-21

 

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team opened up its season on Saturday in a home game against Gannon University. The Redhawks fell in double overtime, 2-1. 

Johanz Tusiime opened up the scoring, his first goal of the season, in the first half off an assist by Justin Robertson in the twenty-first minute. After that the game remained scoreless until the fifty-third minute when Gannon answered with a goal of their own by Sergio Del Castillo, his second of the season, assisted by James Pool.

The game remained tied for the remainder of the second half and through the first overtime and until the 101st minute when Benjamin Querling secured the win for Gannon. 

In goal for Roberts, Jared Gibbons had five total saves for the day while Gannon's goalkeeper, David Weber had three saves. 

Other leaders for Roberts included Marc-Athony Blackburn with one shot, Tamas Nagy with three shots, two on goal, Jordan Sullivan with one shot on goal, Alex Perez-Vega also contributing a shot during the game. 

The Redhawks look to redeem themselves on March 27th where they will be playing at home against thruway rival Daemen College at 2:00 pm.
