Women's Lacrosse Week in Review: March 15-21

The Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team had a busy schedule last week with three games in five days. The week was highlighted by an 11-10 overtime win over nationally ranked Mercy College. The last time Roberts defeated Mercy was in 2014.

ROBERTS vs NOTRE DAME COLLEGE (3/17)

On Wednesday the Redhawks hosted Notre Dame College out of Ohio defeating the Falcons, 22-8. Lindsey Brinkel led the team with 10 points on four goals and six assists. Senior Emily Tomei had her highest scoring game of the season with five goals.

Eight different players scored for the Redhawks as the offense dominated the majority of the game.

The win moved Roberts to 3-0 on the season.

ROBERTS at MERCY (3/20)

Roberts pulled off one of the biggest wins in program history on Saturday with an 11-10 overtime win over No. 14 Mercy.

Madison Bell scored the game-winner with 1:54 remaining in overtime to seal the win for Roberts. The last win against Mercy came on April 26, 2014 at home when the Redhawks won 10-6. Roberts had never won on the road against the conference opponent. Bell finished with two goals and an assist.

Brinkel's goal was just as crucial as the senior attacker tied the game up with just 1:18 left in the game. Brinkel scored three times and added two assists.

Goalkeeper Natalie Arieno made 10 saves in net for Roberts and picked up the win.

ROBERTS at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (3/21)

In the final game of the stretch Roberts defeated St. Thomas Aquinas, 23-15 to earn the first East Coast Conference win of the season.

In what was a back-and-forth type of game the Redhawks pulled away from the Spartans midway through the first half when Roberts scored three unanswered goals to gain a four goal lead. Roberts then closed out the half on yet another three goal run to take a 13-8 halftime lead.

Bell scored nine goals in the contest and was joined by Emily Tomei with seven goals and three assists to power the offensive attack.

The Redhawks are now 5-0 to begin the season.
