ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It was a historic day in the pool at the Voller Athletic Center. The Roberts Wesleyan University swimming and diving teams competed in the program's first ever diving events since the program was added as an official varsity sport in 2017.
Both the Redhawks men's and women's teams also walked away with the sweep, defeating Cazenovia and Medaille.
"Today's meet was monumental in the growth of our program," said head coach
Sara Smith. "Not only did our team culture shine but we contested RWU Diving for the first time in program history. The team competed well today, even after a hard week of training. I cannot wait to see what this season holds for us."
Freshman
Emma Dicob, the program's first ever diving recruit won the one-meter dive with a score of 209.30 to set the mark for the Redhawks. Sophomore
William Rugaber won the men's one-meter dive scoring 224.80 points.
Roberts won 21 of the 24 total events on the day.
Freshman
Tommy Booth set a new Roberts record in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:03.70.
The Redhawks will host Le Moyne University on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m.
