ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University women's basketball team trimmed an 18-point first-half deficit to seven on two separate occasions, but Lake Erie College was able to fend off the comeback attempts on its way to an 85-66 non-conference victory at the Voller Athletic Center on Tuesday.
Junior guard Danielle DiCintio scored 17 points to lead the Redhawks (1-3). Junior Georgia Haverlock added 12 points while junior Emily Palmer and freshman Grace Galgano each scored 10. Freshman Paris Anthony contributed eight points, including a rebound basket at the halftime buzzer.
Galgano, the reigning East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, led Roberts with six rebounds while DiCintio contributed four.
Lake Erie used its outside shooting to build a 36-18 advantage with 6:54 to play in the half, but Roberts outscored the Storm 17-6 the remainder of the second quarter and trailed 42-35 at the break. DiCintio scored nine points during the run.
The Storm, who shot 8 of 12 from three-point range in the first half, regrouped and outscored Roberts 27-13 in the third quarter.
Roberts will return from Thanksgiving break to play a non-conference game at Mercyhurst at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
