BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - The Roberts Wesleyan College women's basketball team dropped its regular-season finale, dropping a 66-65 overtime decision to the University of Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon.
Senior guard
Taryn Wilson led Roberts (13-11, 10-8 East Coast Conference) with 18 points and seven rebounds. The Redhawks finished fourth in the ECC standings and will host No. 5 Mercy in an ECC Tournament game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams split their regular-season meetings.
"We are going into the postseason 0-0," Roberts coach
Kevin Clifford said. "It is one game at a time from here on out."
Senior center
Dimitra Gkizani added 15 points and sophomore guard
Georgia Haverlock scored 11 for the Redhawks.
Roberts held a 44-38 lead after but Bridgeport rallied to force overtime. The Purple Knights outrebounded Roberts 56-34 and held a 22-13 advantage in offensive rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Danielle DiCintio contributed 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and
Toni Neely-Primus added seven points and five boards for the Redhawks.
