Redhawks Blank D'Youville; Extend Unbeaten Streak To Four

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Winning on the road is never easy, but the Roberts Wesleyan University men's soccer team is finding a way to get the job done.
The Redhawks won their third road match in eight days, defeating D'Youville University 3-0 in an East Coast Conference match on Wednesday night.
Roberts (5-3-1, 2-0-1 ECC) is unbeaten in four matches and has outscored its opponents 10-1 during its last three games.
"We've had some pretty good moments in games and this is a pretty good performance for all of the guys," Roberts coach Scott Reber said. "Even when things weren't going our way in the first half guys stayed the course and grinded it out."
Senior Alex Perez Vega opened the scoring for Roberts in the 42nd minute and junior midfielder Tamas Nagy scored two goals in a 4:33 span early in the second half.
Nagy is tied with Dylan Ruiz with six goals this season and Perez Vega has five, including three game-winners.
Roberts held a huge territorial advantage and outshot the Saints 31-11. Senior Jared Gibbons made seven saves for his third clean sheet of the season.
Reber said the Redhawks' attention to detail has been sharp in their last three matches.
"I don't know if there is any one thing that we are doing," he said. "It's been a lot of little things and if you do the little things, the big things will take care of themselves."
The Redhawks return home to face Queens College in an ECC match at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday during Homecoming Weekend.
"This is just another step forward," Reber said. "Now our focus is on Queens and Queens is a tough, tough team."
