Redhawks Start Strong at METS Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Roberts men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened up the first full day of competition at the Metropolitan Collegiate (METS) Championships with a bang, as the teams set six new program records and had its highest place finishes in championship history.
 
William Rugaber placed seventh in the 1-meter dive with a school record breaking score of 371.70. Rugaber was the highest placing individual of the day for the Redhawks.
 
The 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Mya June, Ellie LaBenne, Amanda Charleston, and Rennee Rozler had an eighth place finish and also smashed the Roberts record with a time of 1:43.50.
 
The Redhawks also had success in the 400-yard medley relay with both the men's team and women's team placing top 10 while also setting the new top mark in program history. The women (Daniela Bernal, Rozler, Charleston, June) took tenth with a time of 4:15. The men (Gabe Rivers, Tommy Booth, Robert Bodien, Andon Fedor) finished ninth overall in 3:42.17.
 
In addition to the relay, Rivers also set a pair of individual program records. The senior swam 4:58.66 in the 500-yard freestyle and 2:05.30 in the 200 IM. 
 
Roberts will be back in the pool on Saturday as the METS Championships continue.
