SCHENECTADY, NY – Junior Emma Dicob and sophomore Sidney Simmons had a pair of solid finishes in the diving events and senior Mya Webb added a pair of victories to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Swimming and Diving team to a season-opening split in a tri-meet at Union College.
The Redhawks (1-1) downed Westfield State by a score of 133-101 but dropped a team score of 131-105 to host Union in the first meet of the season.
Junior Joane Arzalluz Garzon had a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle race with a time of 11:55.52 early in the schedule and then posted a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.19 a short time later in the schedule.
Webb was first in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.60 and followed up later with a win in the 100 free with a time of 56.04 for a double-win night for Roberts.
In diving, Simmons was first and Dicob second on the 1-meter board with scores of 234.08 and 231.53 respectively. Dicob came back to post a winning score of 238.64 on the 3-meter board.
In the 500 freestyle freshman Cara Pillittieri posted her first win of her career with a time of 5:45.10. Classmate Ruby Flanigen had a solid second-place finish in the 100 butterfly with her time of 1:06.83.
Roberts returns to action October 26 with the home-opening meet against William Smith in the Voller Athletic Center.
