Men’s Soccer Finishes Regular Season with a 3-1 Win

MANCHESTER, NH – Sophomore Myles Palmer scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Soccer team to a regular-season ending 3-1 victory over St. Anselm College in a non-conference game Saturday.

St. Anselm (3-9-3) took an early lead with a goal just 11 minutes into the contest but Roberts (9-6-1) answered back seven minutes later as sophomore Archie Murphy scored his fourth goal of the week with an assist from Palmer to knot the score at 1-1.

Later in the first half, fifth-year Tamas Nagy scored his 11th goal of the season and 42nd goal of his career on a penalty kick in the 30th minute to give the Redhawks a 2-1 lead.

The 42 goals moved Nagy into a tie for third on the all-time scoring list at Roberts.

In the second half, Palmer sealed the victory with his 11th goal of the year with less than 20 minutes to play as Roberts took a 3-1 lead and held the advantage through the final horn for the win.

The Redhawks were outshot in the game 21-15 but held an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Junior Eric Jewson made two saves to earn his eighth victory of the year.

Roberts will play Thursday in the first round of the East Coast Conference Tournament with a home game against The University of the District of Columbia. Game time is to be determined. Roberts earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament and District of Columbia is the No. 6 seed.
