Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Season Ends with a 1-1 Tie against Judson

KISSIMMEE, FL – For the second straight game in Florida, the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Soccer came from behind with a second-half goal to walk away with a tie but the 1-1 final score against Judson University was not enough and Judson advanced based in the tie-breaker procedure at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championship Tournament in Kissimmee.

All three teams in pool B that included Roberts Wesleyan, Judson and Wayland Baptist had two ties in pool play but Judson allowed just two goals with a pair of 1-1 ties while Roberts and Wayland Baptist each allowed three goals.

Judson (11-4-7) scored early with a goal to take a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. The Eagles had several chances to extend the score with a 13-1 shots advantage in the opening 45 minutes of action.

The Redhawks (9-7-3) regrouped in the second half and tied the game in the 70th minute.

Junior Iann Briones moved forward quickly to take a corner kick and fired a ball past the far post before the Judson defense could get organized for the corner kick.

A looping cross was headed into the corner of the goal by junior Luke Hanes to knot the score at 1-1.

The Redhawks knew the tie-breaker situation and battled to get another goal late in the game but could not find the back of the net.

For the game, Judson held an 18-8 shots advantage with a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Junior Eric Jewson finished with six saves.
