WATERBURY, Conn. –
Emma Blumenstock set a new Roberts Wesleyan single-game record with 15 points (6 goals, 9 assists) on Tuesday afternoon as the women's lacrosse team beat Post University, 19-6.
Blumenstock will also make the NCAA Division II record book as her 15 points is the highest single-game point total since 2017. She is tied for the fifth all-time point total in NCAA DII women's lacrosse history.

15 Emma Blumenstock, Roberts Wesleyan vs Post – April 23, 2024
"Emma is quietly efficient," said head coach
Kristin Paolini. "She's never too high and never too low. She's just consistent for us. She finds the back of the net and finds the open cutters. Coach Pete and I didn't even realize until after the game that she had 15 points. Emma has been playing at a very high level."
It took almost a full quarter for the Redhawks to get going as the team gave up a 3-0 lead to Post in the first quarter. Roberts finally got on the board with 41 seconds remaining in the first period off a goal from Blumenstock.
That goal led to a 10-goal unanswered offensive outburst in the second quarter for Roberts.
"I told the team during the timeout that we have not been challenged much in recent games and that we need to play our pace of game," Paolini said. "We cannot get lackadaisical and turn the ball over. I was proud of the team for responding right away."
The offense got started with the continued success of
Sophia Podszebka in the draw circle. The senior had 14 draw controls and leads all of NCAA DII in total draws and draws per game. Podszebka added in a goal, two caused turnovers and a ground ball.
Emma Taylor helped anchor the defense with her best defensive game of the season, causing a game-high four turnovers and three ground balls.
Ella Dossier was the second-highest point scorer on the team with one goal and six assists. 16 of the 19 goals for the Redhawks were assisted. Roberts is the top team in the nation for assists per game.
The Redhawks (10-5, 5-0 ECC) hope that they won't have to make a road trip again anytime soon as they will battle Mercy University on Friday for the East Coast Conference regular season title and home field advantage for the postseason. Both teams are undefeated in the ECC. The game is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m. on Redhawks Field.
