King, McCown Receive ECC Honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan University's Brynn King and Mark McCown have been honored by the East Coast Conference for their efforts during the 2024 Outdoor Track and Field season.

King, a pole vaulter from The Woodlands, Texas, was named the ECC's 2024 Outdoor Track and Field Female Athlete of the Year, and McCown, who guided the Redhawks men's program to their second consecutive ECC Championship, was named the ECC's Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

King picked up where she left off after her historic indoor season, setting the NCAA Division II pole vault record by clearing 4.60 meters (15-1) at the Redhawk Invitational on March 14, just six days after she won the indoor national championship.

King followed that up with another record-breaking performance at the Texas Relays on March 30, setting a personal, meet and NCAA Division II record by clearing 4.68 meters (15-4 1/4) in her home state.
She also broke a 13-year-old meet record (4.51 meters, 14-9 1/2) by winning the Kansas Relays on April 19. King then shattered the East Coast Conference record by four feet (15-1) on May 2. She will compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships on Thursday in Emporia, Kansas.

McCown, who was named head coach of the Roberts Wesleyan indoor and outdoor track and field programs in 2019, has led the men to three ECC titles in the past four seasons.

Roberts captured the 2024 championship with 194 points, 47 more than runner-up Saint Thomas Aquinas College.
