Redhawks Defeat Molloy to Advance to ECC Championship

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Redhawks are headed back to the East Coast Conference championship game after defeating No. 4 Molloy 14-10 on Thursday evening in the semifinal round.

The opponent will be the familiar Mercy Mavericks who Roberts has faced in the finals for the last three seasons, but this time the championship will be held on Redhawks Field for the first time in program history.

Annie Mulhall had a game-high seven goals in the win against Molloy.

Roberts took a 6-1 lead in the first quarter and never trailed in the game.

Shawna Lesmerises came up huge for the Redhawks in the fourth quarter as Molloy looked to make a comeback. The junior goalkeeper made eight saves in the quarter to help preserve the lead and had 14 total saves in the contest.

The Redhawks have won nine straight games heading into the title game. They will host No. 2 Mercy on Sunday at 1 p.m.
