Both Divers Earn NCAA Qualifying Scores at Nazareth Meet

ROCHESTER, NY – The divers for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Swimming and Diving team have made a habit of earning spots to compete at the NCAA Division II Championships at the end of the season and this year is no exception as both senior Emma Dicob and junior Sidney Simmons hit NCAA qualifying marks Saturday at Nazareth University.

Roberts won the team score in the meet with a tight 140-139 final score.

Dicob earned her mark in the 1-meter event with a score of  262.50 and Simmons was the winner and NCAA qualifier in the 3-meter event with her score of 271.30. Dicob had a second-place score of 249.50 on the 3-meter board and Simmons was second on the 1-meter board with a 250.85 score.

The Redhawks had multiple winners in sophomore Cara Pillittieri as she son both distance races with a time of 10:39.17 in the 800 and 4:59.49 in the 400 freestyle races. Freshman Teagan Lewis was also a double winner with the top finish in the 50 backstroke (34.66) and the 100 freestyle (1:05.37).

The duo also pushed the Redhawks to the total score victory with a win in the 200 freestyle relay in the final event of the day. Pillittieri led off the relay and Lewis was the anchor leg as junior Juliana French and senior Joane Arzalluz-Garzon completed the relay that clocked a winning time of 2:01.96.

Roberts will compete in the North Country Invitational Meet next weekend at SUNY Potsdam.
