Big Third Quarter Drops Women’s Basketball on the Road

PAINSVILLE, OH – Freshman Aniyah Jones scored 18 points to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Basketball team but a 31-point third quarter by Lake Erie College led to an 87-60 loss for the Redhawks Thursday on the road as the first semester schedule closed.

After a back-and-forth first period, Lake Erie (2-7) led by three points at 17-14 and the Storm took advantage of a small run in the second quarter to extend the lead to eight points at 36-31 at the halftime break.

The Redhawks (2-7) surrendered 31 points as the hot-shooting Storm connected on seven 3-pointers to break the game open.

Jones led Roberts with 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting and sophomore Erin Frazier added 11 points.

The Redhawks finished the first semester schedule and will resume action January 5 at home against Redeemer University.
