NIAGARA FALLS, NY – Freshman Kaylee Stephens and junior Amelia Ponto each rolled a pair of 200+ games to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Bowling team to three wins on the first day of competition at the Purple Eagle Brunswick Spring Classic hosted by Niagara University.

Roberts (28-25 overall) won matches against Penn State Behrend, Bryant University and D'Youville Saturday.

The Redhawks started the day with a 886-798 win over Penn State Behrend as Stephens rolled a high score for the day with a 219. Senior Luz Torres added a 189 game in the opening victory.

Roberts fell to Niagara University in its next match by a score of 947-835, Ponto had the high score with a 204.

In the third match of the day, Roberts downed Bryant with a916-892 score as Ponto added a second 200 game with a 217 to lead the Redhawks. Sophomore Rebecca Spry had a 193 game while Torres rolled a 183 and sophomore Abigail Barnard recorded a 181.

The Redhawks fell to Mercyhurst by a score of 1,006-907 as Spry led the team with a 190 while Ponto, Barnard and Stephens each scored 183.

In the final match of the day, Stephens led Roberts with a 200 game as the Redhawks downed D'Youville 882-792. Torres had a 194 game and Spry added a 176 for the Redhawks.

Competition continues Sunday as Roberts faces Merrimack, William Smith and Hilbert before a position round match to end the day.
