BRADFORD, PA – Junior Amelia Ponto rolled a pair of 200 games Saturday to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Bowling team to a victory over the University of Pitt-Bradford in the final dual match of the season.
Roberts open the match with a 971-839 win in the first Traditional game. Pitt-Bradford came back with a 952-840 win in the second Traditional game to knot the score at 1-1. In the Baker scoring game, the Redhawks came from behind to win games 2-3-4 and posted a 3-2 win with a pinfall total of 875-872.
Ponto led the Redhawks with a 203 in the opening game while sophomore Rebecca Spry had a 201 and senior Luz Torres rolled a 200.
In the second game, Ponto stayed hot and rolled a 202. Torres added a 173 and Spry finished with a 172.
In the Baker game, the Panthers won the opener, 182-157 but Roberts came back to win a 194-160 second game and took the lead with a 200-157 in game three. The Redhawks increased the lead to 3-1 with a 180-154 game four win and Pitt-Braford closed with a 219-144 win in game five.
Roberts will compete in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championship Tournament beginning Friday at the Bowlero Berks Lanes in Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania.
