ROCHESTER, NY -- Roberts Wesleyan University Athletic Communications Consultant Steve Bradley was recently recognized with four awards in the district-level competition of the College Sports Communicators 2024-25 Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest.
Bradley received three first-place awards and a runner-up certificate in the college division, which is open to members of the College Sports Communicators (CSC), who work for institutions in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.
Bradley received first-place honors in the Athlete Profile category for his feature story on Redhawks' record-setting pole vaulter Brynn King, in the Event Coverage category for his story on King qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Team, and the Season Recap/Preview category for  Building A 'Pole Vault Paradise,' which provided an inside look into the rapidly growing pole-vault program as it entered its second season with coaches Jenn and Rick Suhr.
Bradley also received a runner-up nod in the General Feature/Blog category for his feature story on long-time Redhawks' super fan Sue Harkins.
"I am humbled and grateful by this recognition," said Bradley, who has been working with the Athletic Communications staff since 2021. "Brynn King was THE STORY in NCAA Division II athletics in 2023-24 and I was privileged to be assigned to cover her biggest moments. I would like to thank Brynn, her family and coaches for all of the access and trust they showed in me while sharing her stories and the entire Roberts Wesleyan University Athletic Department for providing me with the encouragement and platform to dive deep while promoting the amazing things that are happening here.

This marks the second straight year that Bradley has been honored by the CSC as he captured first place in the Event Coverage and General Feature/Blog categories in 2023-24. His piece on former women's basketball manager Katie Curtiss was a co-winner in CSC's national competition for General Feature/Blog last year.
"We are lucky to have someone with Steve's talent on the staff here at Roberts," said Vergin. "He very eloquently captures the character and grit of the student-athletes, support staff and alumni to help us broadcast the many accomplishments and achievements of the Redhawks."
Bradley's work in the Athlete Profile, Event Coverage and Season Recap/Preview categories will be eligible for consideration in the national competition. The CSC plans to announce national winners later this month.
