ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Three stories written by the Roberts Wesleyan University Athletic Communications Department received national recognition from the College Sports Communicators in the 2024-25 Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest.

"Brynn King Makes U.S. Olympic Pole Vault Team"  and "Building A Pole Vault Paradise", both written by Athletic Communications Consultant Steve Bradley received first place in the Event Coverage and Season Recap/Preview categories for the College Division. "Building A Pole Vault Paradise" was also runner-up for National Story of the Year.

Bradley's profile on King, "I kept crossing stuff off my list: How Brynn King overcame injuries and adversity to become an Olympic pole vaulter," earned runner-up in the Athlete Profile category.

The contest included nearly 500 entries in seven categories across two divisions. The University Division includes Division I institutions and the College Division includes Division II, III, NAIA and Junior College institutions.

Bradley's stories advanced to the national judging after winning first place in District I, which includes New York and the New England states, last month. He was one of three CSC members to win two national categories.

This marks the second consecutive year that Roberts Wesleyan has been recognized at the national level. Bradley's feature on Katie Curtiss, the former manager of the women's basketball team, was a co-winner in the General Feature/Blog category in the 2023-24 contest.
