ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior
Jack Hopson scored a goal and added an assist as the Roberts Wesleyan University men's soccer team remained unbeaten on the season with a 3-1 win over D'Youville in an East Coast Conference match on Saturday.
Junior
Archie Murphy started the scoring for the Redhawks (5-0-3, 2-0 ECC) off an assist from Hopson in the 17
th minute. The goal was Murphy's team-leading eighth of the season.
Roberts doubled its lead in the 53
rd minute as
Ewan O'Dwyer-Hall redirected a cross from
Luke Hanes from in close for his first goal as a Redhawk.
D'Youville scored on a penalty kick in the 56
th minute to cut the Roberts' lead to 2-1, but Hopson buried a PK in the 77
th minute to restore the two-goal advantage in the 77
th minute.
Senior
Eric Jewson made six saves for Roberts.
Hopson, Hanes and Jewson were honored before the match along with fellow seniors
Dylan Baker,
Iann Briones,
Micah Cornfield,
Dwayne Lewis,
Conlan McCoy and
Julian Silva.
The Redhawks will travel to Goldey-Beacom College for a non-conference match at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
