ERIE, PA – After a fast start on the first day of the season-opening Mercyhurst Invitational, the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Bowling team faltered a bit Sunday and placed sixth overall in the final team standings.
The Redhawks (4-5) were 4-1 on the opening day but dropped three Baker Scoring matches Sunday and scored 748 pins in the bye round to earn a spot in the position round for a chance to take fifth overall.
Roberts drew host Mercyhurst in the position round and dropped a 4-1 decision to the Lakers for the sixth-place finish.
Earlier in the day, the Redhawks fell 874-850 to Daemen, dropped a 955-862 decision to Niagara University and slipped with a 961-907 loss to Duquesne University.
The Redhawks return to action October 24-25 at the Niagara University Brunswick Fall Invitational at Rapids Lanes in Niagara Falls.
