SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore
Lia MacDougall scored a career-high seven goals as the Roberts Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team built a big early lead and cruised to a 19-3 win over American International College on Wednesday afternoon.
MacDougall scored four goals in the first half as Roberts built a 13-1 lead at the break and gave head coach
Ellen Newton her first career victory. The Redhawks scored their most goals in an opener since defeating Shorter University 21-10 in 2016.
Junior
Alison Dioguardi scored four goals and collected a career-high 11 draw controls and senior
Ella Dossier tied her career best with seven points on three goals and four assists.
Freshman
Erica Savage scored two goals and added two assists in her Roberts debut while
Kadie Tierney,
Francesca Kita and
Gianna Parise also scored. Dioguardi also had two assists and Savage led Roberts with three ground balls.
Freshman
Josella Harrison picked up the win in goal.
The Redhawks will host No. 22 Saint Anselm College in a non-conference game at noon on Saturday.
