Bowling Finishes Eighth at Niagara Spring Classic

NIAGARA FALLS, NY – After a pair of wins Saturday and a victory over D'Youville University Sunday, the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Bowling team battled in the position round with Hilbert College but fell to the Hawks and placed eighth overall at the Niagara University Brunswick Spring Classic over the weekend.

Roberts (18-31) ended Saturday with a pair of wins as the Redhawks beat Hilbert 925-859 and ended the day with a close victory over host Niagara University by a score of 833-827.

The Sunday schedule was adjusted as Merrimack University dropped out of the tournament to safely travel back to campus and the Redhawks fell to Penn State Behrend to open the day with Baker Format scoring.

Roberts rebounded to defeat D'Youville but dropped matches to Daemen University and Bryant University before the position round match and a rematch with Hilbert.

Hilbert took the opening game 179-127 in the Best-of-Seven Baker Format match. Roberts tied the score with a 209-204 win in the second game but the Hawks won three straight games to seal the 4-1 win and seventh place in the final standings.

The Redhawks will compete next weekend at the D'Youville Western New York Cup Tournament March 1 at the Town Edge Bowling Center in West Seneca.
