ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Seniors
Takumi Horan and
Cooper Kerridge scored goals in the second-half as the Roberts Wesleyan University men's soccer team defeated the College of Staten Island 2-1 in an East Coast Conference match on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.
Both goals came as the result of corner kicks.
Horan netted his third of the season on a rebound in the 56
th minute after
Conor Livingstone headed a corner kick by
Landon Ambeau to give the Redhawks (2-5-2, 1-2 ECC) a 1-0 lead.
Kerridge connected in the 67
th minute when he bent a corner kick into the far corner of the CSI net for his first of the season and a 2-0 advantage.
CSI scored in the 70
th minute, but the Redhawks were able to emerge with their first conference win of the season.
Senior
Juan Daniel Espinosa Rubio made four saves for Roberts.
Horan, Kerridge and Espinosa Rubio were honored in a pregame ceremony along with fellow seniors
Maxim Dion,
Archie Murphy and
Ewan O'Dwyer-Hall.
The Redhawks will play an ECC match at D'Youville at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
