Dan Dunne is a four-time champion as a player and a coach, who has over thirty years of basketball experience as a player, coach, scout, businessman, and educator. He is the owner of Full Court International, a player development company for frontcourt players, based in Rochester, New York. 

At 6-10, Dunne, originally from Long Island, has played against All Americans, Olympic Gold Medalists, NBA Champions, and Hall of Famers.

He played at Long Island Lutheran High School from 1977-79, where he is a member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame, and Basketball’s Wall of fame. His team was ranked number four in New York State in 1978; won the Association of Independent Schools championship, and were New York State Federation semifinalists in 1979.  

He then played college ball at Seton Hall University in the early 1980's, during the first four years of the Big East Conference, and played against Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, Bill Wennington, Otis Thorpe, Chris Mullin, Clyde Drexler, Danny Schayes, Melvin Turpin, and dozens more who went on to play in the NBA. 

Dunne also played five seasons professionally in Puerto Rico. His team won the Superior League’s Championship in 1978, and he was a member of Puerto Rico’s Junior National Team in 1978, National Team in 1979, and was named to their Olympic Team in 1980.  He also played one season professionally in Australia. 

Dunne has played for, and worked with, such well-known coaches as, Bill Raftery, P. J. Carlesimo, Dave Cowens, Jim Lynam, Jerry Stackhouse and Rob Spon.

His coaching experience ranges from preteen girls to men’s professional ranks. He has coached in the Greece (NY) Basketball Association, at the boy’s high school level on Long Island, at the collegiate level with stops at Niagara University, Molloy College, and Brockport State, and at the professional levels with the NBA’s G-League, and Premier Basketball League. Dunne has also coached at the international pro levels in Cork, Ireland. 

Throughout his playing and coaching basketball, he has worked dozens of summer camps and has conducted instructional basketball camps/clinics for boys and girls, and coaches on five continents (North America - USA, Puerto Rico; Europe - England, Ireland, Italy; South America - Ecuador; Africa - Burkina Faso; and Australia).

In 2021, Dunne was an Observer in the prestigious NBA’s Assistant Coaches Program, which is an intense program that trains former NBA/G-League/WNBA players, and qualified coaches, the skills needed to be an assistant coach at the NBA/G-League/College levels. 

Between 2015-2024, Dunne has worked numerous professional league’s Free Agent/Open Tryout Camps/Draft Combines, as a coach/scout/talent evaluator, including the NBA D-League’s National Open Try Out, Free Agent Camps NBA G-League teams: Cleveland Charge, Raptors 905, Long Island Nets, Delaware 87ers/Blue Coats, Lakeland Magic; Canadian National Basketball League and the, Canadian Super Basketball League’s Draft Combine, The Basketball League’s Free Agent Camp, The Puerto Rican Superior League, the Premier Basketball League’s National Combine, as well as numerous individual team tryouts,

He has scouted players at NBA Las Vegas Summer League, Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, G-League Elite Camp, NBA Draft Camp, G-League Showcase

Additionally, Dunne has also been a Regional Scout for the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, since 1991.

From 2014-16, he was an Assistant Coach at the minor professional league level with the Premier Basketball League’s, Rochester (NY) Razorsharks. His primary responsibility was working with the team's frontcourt players and developing each player’s individual and team position skills in order to successfully compete at the professional level. The Razorsharks won the league championship both years Dunne was on staff.

Prior to working with the Razorsharks, Dunne worked four years (2009-13) as Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Monroe High School in Rochester, New York, where he built a varsity program after an absence of over twenty years. At the end of the 2011-12 season, Monroe posted its first winning record since the 1985-86 season. From 2011-2013, Monroe qualified for the Sectional playoffs, and achieved back to back winning seasons!

From 2007-13, Dunne coached girl’s AAU with the Western New York Lady Lakers, and the Rochester Revolution Basketball Clubs. His teams at the U-12, U-13, U-14, U-15, and U-16 levels averaged 15 wins preseason, while winning numerous tournament championships against some very tough competition. Several of his former players went on to become impact players on their respective high school teams, and then went on to play at the college level. 

During this time, Dunne has maintained his international connections by creating a series of basketball/cultural exchanges with teams from Ireland and Germany.  His Lakers U-13 team in 2008, and U-16 team in 2013 traveled to Limerick and Galway, Ireland; in 2009 two U-14 teams from Berlin and Bonn, Germany came to Rochester; in 2011, his U-16 Revolution team went to Bonn, Germany. 

For 15 years, he represented and placed female players who wanted to continue playing professionally at the international level; and for five years as a WNBA Certified Player Agent.

Dunne is a retired NYS Certified Bilingual (Spanish-English) Social Studies Teacher.  For thirty years, he taught sixth, seventh and eighth grade bilingual social studies at Monroe High School in the Rochester City School District. He possesses a NYS coaching certification for basketball.

He is currently a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, World Association of Basketball Coaches, Latino Association of Basketball Coaches, and New York Basketball Coaches Association

He is a FIBA Certified Coach, New York State Certified Basketball Coach, FIBA Olympic Solidarity Instructor; has his USA Basketball Gold Coach License, and is certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED

Dunne has two daughters, Carolyn, and Alyssa, and one grandson, Graham. He lives in Greece with his wife Melanie, and three “doodle dogs” Billy, Trixie, and Ginger.
