Gary Andrews will enter his fourth year as the head coach of the Roberts Wesleyan women’s basketball team for the 2018-19 season. Coach Andrews began at Roberts in 2015 and led the Redhawks to an NCCAA National Championship. Andrews was also named NCCAA Coach of the Year that season. In his first season he also helped the Redhawks make the East Coast Conference Tournament where they took second place, falling to Queens in the Championship Game.
Coach Andrews has also seen success as a head coach at the NAIA level. Prior to coming to Roberts Wesleyan, Andrews spent 14 years as the head women’s basketball coach at Saint Francis University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During his time with the Cougars, Coach Andrews compiled an overall record of 322-142 (.693) including an undefeated season in 2013-14 where the team won the NAIA Division II National Championship.
From 1992 to 2001 Coach Andrews coached women’s basketball at the high school level, winning three straight Indiana Class 2A State Championships with Bishop Luers H.S.
Currently, Andrews holds a career record of 392-172 as a head coach at the collegiate level.
In his playing career, Andrews was a member of the varsity team at Bellmont H.S. in Decatur, Ind. where he helped the Braves to two consecutive conference titles and a regional runner-up finish to state champion Marion. Andrews also played one year at Judson University in Elgin, Ill.
Andrews graduated from University of St. Francis in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. He then earned a master’s degree in School Administration in 2001 from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).
Coach Andrews currently resides in Gates, N.Y. with his wife Amanda and son C.J.
