Mike Dedee was named the first head coach of the Roberts Wesleyan men’s volleyball program in May 2023.
In the second season of the men's volleyball program, Dedee continued to improve the program and garnered Coach of the Year honors from the National Christian College Athletic Association for the Midwest Region as he led the squad to double-digit victories and second-place finishes in both the East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament and the NCCAA National Championship Tournament in Illinois.
Player awards for the season included First Team NCCAA Amm-American freshman Landon Brouwer as well as Second Team All-American honors for Moises Jimenez. Four players earned All-ECC honors as Brouwer was named the Player of the Year and Jimenez was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
In his first year he immediately saw success with his team by winning the NCCAA Invitational and being named ECC co-coach of the year. Additionally, five players (the most in the conference) were named to the All-Conference Team. Dedee led the Redhawks to a second-place finish in both the ECC regular season and championship during the 2025 season and was named ECC co-coach of the year for the second straight season.
Dedee’s philosophy is to ensure that the young men at Roberts Wesleyan University receive valuable life lessons on the court that can be applied to the sport of volleyball but also work, school, relationships and more. He is also passionate about being a teacher that helps the team be competitive, but also be the best people they can while at Roberts and for a long time thereafter.
Dedee has an extensive volleyball resume that includes playing volleyball since high school. He enjoyed a standout volleyball career playing club volleyball for Rochester Pace Volleyball Club, professional beach volleyball, and playing at Genesee Community College in Batavia before moving on to play at Division I University of California at Irvine. Dedee earned his Bachelor’s degree in psychology from UC Irvine and his Master’s in social work from the University of California, Long Beach. Dedee spent several years in the social work field.
