Raiders trounce Pioneers

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 15, 2011) – The Women's Soccer team won 6-1 on Senior Day against the Point Park University Pioneers this afternoon.

The Raiders led in shots (21-3) and shots on goal (13-2).

Jen Burch put the Raiders on the board first in the 21st minute, slotting the ball past Pioneers goalkeeper Anna Shaw. Burch found herself in space on the left side after Kara Farnsworth sent in a perfect through ball.

The Pioneers equalized in the 26th minute when Kristina Stammer blasted a shot past Raiders goalkeeper Brianna Maggio from the left side.

Vanessa Sell ripped a shot from the right side inside the 18-yard box, sending the ball to the upper left corner to give the Raiders 2-1 lead with ten minutes left in the first half.

Erika Luedke scored off a pass from Ambre Kuzma, putting the Raiders up 3-1 in the 60th minute.

Three minutes later, Farnsworth added to the Raiders lead, punching the ball to the back of the net from six yards out.

Farnsworth added another a few minutes later to make the score 5-1.

Anna Domink added another goal in the 76th minute, chipping the ball over the Pioneers goalkeeper Liz Velez.

The Raiders improve to 8-7-0 and 5-4-0 in the American Mideast Conference.

The team will travel to Daemen College on Tuesday, October 25th.
