PITTSBURGH, Pa (October 28, 2011) – The Women's Soccer team earned a vital win on the road, winning 3-2 against the Point Park University Pioneers.
The Pioneers got on the board first with a goal by Kristina Stammer in the 12
th minute.
Vanessa Sell tied the game in the 25
th minute, scoring her seventh goal of the season for the Raiders.
In the second half,
Jackie Corbett netted the game winner for the visitors to make the score 2-1.
Nearly 20 minutes later,
Alison Kendall scored her sixth goal of the season to extend the Raiders' lead 3-1.
Stammer scored again in the 75
th minute to make things interesting for the Raiders. The goal was Stammer's third goal against the Raiders this year.
In goal,
Breanna Maggio made eight saves for the Raiders. Both teams had 12 shots with the Pioneers edging the Raiders in shots-on-goal 10-9.
The win moves the Raiders above .500 to 9-8-0 overall and 5-4-0 in conference action.
The Raiders travel to North Canton, OH tomorrow to close out the regular season against Walsh University at 12pm.
