BOSTON, Mass. (November 7, 2011) - The Men's Basketball team picked up two wins on the road to start the season 2-0.
On Friday evening, the Raiders defeated the Fisher College (Mass.) Falcon 67-54.
Alif Bland led the Raiders with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks. The Falcons kept things close in the first half until the Raiders were able to extend the lead into double-digits at the break, 34-23.
Mike Stone went 4-9 in the first half, scoring 13 points for the visitors. Stone would finish with two 3-pointers, scoring 18 points overall.
As a team, the Raiders went 21-44 from the floor with a 47% shooting percentage.
On Saturday, the Raiders found a way to win 79-74 against a pesky University of Maine-Ft. Kent Bengals team. The Raiders were up 10 with 3:30 left in the game. The Bengals would cut the lead to three with less than two minutes remaing to make things interesting. Near the end, Herbert alexander made two front ends of a pair of one and ones from the free throw line to seal the win.
William Kemp-Harris led the Raiders with 17 points and five rebounds. Kemp-Harris went 7 of 13 and 3-5 from the charity stripe. Stone finished with 17 points, five assists, and two rebounds.
The Raiders are back in action this Saturday when the team travels to face former conference rivals Cedarville University. The Yellowjackets defeated the Raiders71-69, knocking the Raiders out of the American Mideast Conference tournament last February. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm.
