Raiders Cut Down Foresters

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 3, 2011)
– The Raiders won their third straight game with a 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon over the Huntington University Foresters.

Jackie Corbett opened things up for the Raiders in the 8th minute when Mandi Hochheimer passed to Corbett on the left side in the 18-yard box. Corbett was open and lobbed the ball high and right over the Foresters goalkeeper, Jillian Steimke.

Five minutes later, the Foresters equalized when Sam Cubic made an identical play as Corbett. Raiders goalkeeper Breanna Maggio was unable to reach and get a hand on the ball as hit the back of the net.

Corbett netted her second goal of the game in the 18th minute after Erika Luedke's shot was defelcted by Steimke. Hochheimer got the rebound and passed left to Corbett who tapped in the open-netter.

Two minutes into the second half, Mandi Hochheimer threw in from the far side into the center of the field when Ludke found the ball, dribbled into the 18-yard and flicked the ball left of the goalie to make the score 3-1.

Alison Kendal got in on the scoring in the 56th minute when she blasted a shot to the right post. Steimke got her hands on it, but the ball slipped right through.

In the 56th minute, Vanessa Sell poked one in while in traffic and on the ground. The goal is her second of the season.

The team improves their record to 3-1-0. The Raiders hit the road next weekend against two nationally ranked opponents. They face #8 Indiana Wesleyan University on Friday night and #19 Spring Arbor University on Saturday afternoon.
