ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 11, 2012) – The Women's Basketball team defeated the University of Maine-Ft. Kent Bengals 81-49 this evening in non-conference action.
The Raiders were unable to shake the pesky Bengals in first half. The game went back and forth for most half as the game was tied three times and saw six lead changes.
Going into halftime, the Bengals took a 29-27 lead.
The Bengals' Erika Christensen led all scorers with 10 points in the half.
Coming out of the break,
Marissa Bunce gave the Raiders the lead after hitting a trey to start the half.
With 11:22 left in the game, Bunce gave gave the Raiders a 53-42 lead after hitting three free throws after being fouled behind the arc.
The Raiders would cruise the rest of the way, taking a 70-42 lead with less than eight minutes remaining after
Ashley Cianfriglia made a three-pointer.
The Raiders scored 54 points in the second half, a season high for points in a half.
Bunce led the Raiders with 15 points, going 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. #Bianca Jones chipped in 13 points for the home team, while hauling in six rebounds.
As a team, the Raiders shot 40.8% from the field. The Raiders outrebounded the Bengals 45-40.
The Bengals were led by Christensen's 12 points.
The Raiders improve to 11-6 on the season.
The Raiders travel to North Canton, Ohio to take on Walsh University this Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2pm.
