Volleyball Travels to Long Island Tomorrow for Two Matches

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 12, 2012) – The Volleyball team travels to Long Island this weekend for matches against Queens College and Molloy College on Saturday.

The Redhawks, who have won three straight, currently sit in third place in the East Coast Conference standings with roughly half of their ECC portion of the schedule remaining.

SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (8-8/4-2 ECC)
The Redhawks have climbed the conference ladder to third place after picking up three straight wins against LIU Post, Mercy College, and the University of the District of Columbia. All three wins have been won in three sets.  Roberts Wesleyan has been excellent at home with a 5-1 record, but has struggled on the road with an away record of 1-4. Matches at neutral sited have been mixed with a 2-3 record.

Sophomore middle blocker Kendall Havener has been playing well defensively and now ranks second in the conference with 1.06 blocks per set and ranks third in total blocks with 69. Freshman setter Maggie Concannon leads the conference with 550 assists, averaging 8.73 assists per set.

Senior Alexa Antoni continues to lead the team with 195 kills while averaging 3.00 kills per set.

SCOUTING QUEENS (2-15/2-4)
The Knights have found wins hard to come by as they started out the season with 12 straight losses.  Despite the losing record, Queens have been competitive with ten of their fifteen losses having gone to at least four sets. Their two wins have come against ECC foes Mercy and UDC.

Offensively, the Knights are led by setter Arielle Dicoco with 165 kills. The freshman is averaging 2.99 kills per set while leading the team with 24 aces.  Senior hitter Suzanne Byrne leads Queens with 212 digs.

SCOUTING MOLLOY (6-13/4-3)
The Lions are sitting in the ECC standings at fifth place, despite having dropped their last three matches. Two of those losses have come against the University of Bridgeport and Dowling College.

Sophomores Sam Berna and Shannon Appel have been the Lions' primary source of offense this season with Berna notching 164 kills and Appel right behind with 161 kills.

Defensively, Molloy is led by senior hitter Liz Moulder's 49 blocks (8 solo, 41 assists).
