Volleyball Continues to Roll, Defeats Queens and Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (October 13, 2012) – The Volleyball team continued their hot streak with two more wins on the road today, defeating Queens College and Molloy College.

After defeating Queens in straight sets (26-24, 25-13, 25-12), the Redhawks took down Molloy 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-10, 25-23). With the pair of wins, Roberts Wesleyan has now won five straight matches and has not lost since Sep. 29 when they fell in a five set match to NYIT.

Against Molloy, the Redhawks were led by senior Alexa Antoni and sophomore Jordan Wilson. Antoni had a match high 19 kills off of 40 attempts for an attack percentage of .400.

Wilson was even more impressive with 17 kills from just 29 attempts to earn a .483 attack percentage. Fellow sophomore Kendall Havener was right behind with 14 kills and picked up a .480 attack percentage to go along with three aces and three blocks (1 solo, 2 assists).

Senior Gisela Ocasio led the team with 20 digs in addition to her six kills and three aces.

The wins improve the Redhawks overall record 10-8 and 6-2 in the East Coast Conference.

Up next for the Redhawks is another road trip when they head to Long Island to face Dowling College next Saturday before visiting the University of Bridgeport the following day.
